So. Here's a look at random thoughts and rants from The Answerman.

Why am I called The Answerman? It goes back to a former workplace... my coworkers gave me the name after they realized that I was generally able to come up with a solution to any problem we ran into. I guess I'm what you would call "intelligent"... I try not to flaunt it, but I do have a Mensa membership card in my wallet. Yes, that's right... a documented IQ of 156, which certifies me as a genius, I guess. I don't know. I think I'm just a regular guy with the outlook that the world is not nearly as complicated as people (non-Mensans, of course) make it for themselves.

I'm blessed (or cursed) with the ability to think all the time. Part of being a Mensa guy, I guess... my mind simply is not equipped with the ability to sit idle. While I obviously don't keep a running tally, my educated guess is that hundreds, if not thousands, of these random thoughts, gripes, revelations, etc. pass through my mind in a single day. In order to keep my focus, I release these thoughts here so that I can get on with thinking about the things that will support myself and my family.

Actually, you will find that my thoughts are pretty tame, compared to other blogs you may have seen. I don't hate anyone or anything. Conversely, I find that there are very few things or people that are "the absolute best", either. My blood pressure has historically been very low, and I don't get too excited about things. My world is pretty much one large "gray area"... there are very few things that are definitely "black" or "white".

Otherwise, it's your typical blog, I guess... you may agree with a lot of what I have to say, or you may think I'm full of beans. It's your prerogative either way. If you feel the need to support my views, or tell me where to go, you can do so here. However, those responses will probably never be posted on this site. Why? Because it's my site... therefore my rules.

I coded the entire site using my favorite text editor, EditPad... no Dreamweaver, no FrontPage, no GoLive. Pure text-based coding. I don't care which WYSIWYG HTML editor you claim is the best... in my opinion, they are all crap. If you can't write code from scratch, you can't honestly call yourself a web designer. (Expect to see a few rants about that scattered through the site.)

I didn't feel that any of the popular blogging programs were scripted in a particularly efficient manner, so I wrote my own. From scratch. And no, it's not available for sale, or for free. I have better things to do. And I CAN do whatever I want to here, because in addition to writing this silly little script, I own the Web server it's hosted on. In fact, I own the hosting company.
